AI operations careers in

The word “algorithm” is Arabic.
Every AI system on earth runs on a concept named after a scholar — al-Khwarizmi — who worked in this region 1,200 years ago. We are building AI operations where the idea of computation began.
The origin of "algorithm"
"Algorithm" derives from the Latin transliteration of his name. "Algebra" comes from his book Al-Jabr. Every sorting routine, every model inference loop, every dispatch optimizer traces back to this scholar.
The first programmable machine
The three brothers built approximately 100 mechanical devices — including an automatic flute player with interchangeable cylinders, an early instantiation of programmatic control over a physical system.
The scientific method, formalized
Ibn al-Haytham formalized the experimental scientific method approximately 250 years before Roger Bacon reached the same conclusions. The father of modern optics — his work influenced Galileo, Kepler, and Descartes.
Aqaba sat at the crossroads of three continents when the ideas that became modern AI were being written down. We’re continuing the work here.
The city that connected three continents
Before Silicon Valley existed, before Wall Street existed, Aqaba was already a node in the global trade network — connecting Africa, Asia, and Europe across a single stretch of Red Sea coastline.
Rome's Red Sea gateway
Roman Aila — built on the same shoreline — was the Empire's southern maritime hub. Trade caravans converged here from Arabia, Egypt, and the Levant. The port that fed an empire now sits beneath modern Aqaba.
Petra's port
The Nabataeans ran one of antiquity's most sophisticated trade empires from Petra. Aqaba (then known as Aelana) was their Red Sea outlet — spices, silks, and incense from the East flowed through here before reaching the Mediterranean.
The iron thread to Mecca
The Ottoman Hejaz Railway — completed 1908 — linked Damascus to Medina through a region that included Aqaba's hinterland. Lawrence of Arabia's most famous raids targeted these rails. The station ruins still stand in the Jordanian desert.
Every venture that built here — from Nabataean merchants to Roman administrators to Ottoman engineers — understood the same thing: geography is leverage. Aqaba sits at the intersection of three continents, one Red Sea, and one free economic zone that makes it cheaper to operate than any comparable city in the region.
Jordan's only coastline. The Red Sea's northern gem.
Aqaba is not a sleepy beach town. It is Jordan's fastest-growing economic zone — a purpose-built free city with its own regulatory framework, a deep-water port, and a climate that makes it livable year-round.
Red Sea diving
World-class coral reefs minutes from the city center. The northern Red Sea is consistently ranked among the top dive destinations globally.
Wadi Rum gateway
The valley of the moon — 74,000 hectares of sandstone desert and UNESCO World Heritage landscape — is a 45-minute drive from Aqaba.
ASEZA free zone
5% flat corporate tax rate. Duty-free imports. Foreign ownership allowed. Streamlined residency for skilled workers. One regulatory body, not five.
Three borders
Saudi Arabia 12 km south. Israel across the bay. Egypt reachable by ferry. Aqaba is the only point on Earth where four countries share a single body of water.
Why builders choose Aqaba
Why STEADYWRK chose Aqaba
Aqaba sits on the Red Sea — Jordan's only coastline. The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) runs it as a duty-free, tax-favorable zone with reduced corporate tax, sales tax exemptions on most goods, and streamlined hiring. That cost base is what lets us pay competitively while keeping margins sane.
STEADYWRK builds on production Claude-powered workflows for dispatch decisions, intake triage, and operator assistance. We ship against real US field-service load: dispatch, scoring, Arabic NLP, and agent orchestration are not demos.
The workforce is bilingual Arabic + English by default. Jordan has a deep technical talent pool and universities that feed it. We hire people who want agency, ship fast, and read docs.
Where we hire
FM Dispatch
Route US field service work orders, own SLA clocks, coordinate contractors.
AI Operations

Common questions
What is ASEZ?
The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) is a duty-free, tax-favorable zone on Jordan's Red Sea coast. Registered companies get reduced corporate tax, sales tax exemptions on most goods, and streamlined hiring. STEADYWRK operates inside ASEZ to let AI-operations roles pay fairly while staying competitive globally.
Can I work remote?
Most engineering, research, and operator roles are remote or hybrid. Field Service Agent is on-site in Aqaba. You pick the mode during application — we match you only to roles your preference allows.
What languages do you hire in?
English is required for every role. Arabic is required for NLP, content, and on-ground roles; strongly preferred everywhere else. If you are bilingual, say so in the application — it changes the shortlist.
Do I need to be a Jordanian resident?
Aqaba on-site roles require legal residency or a visa pathway we help coordinate. Remote roles are open to any applicant we can contract cleanly — Jordan, MENA, global. Payroll handles the currency and compliance.
What is the path to senior?
We ship fast and promote faster. Every role has a published trade-up path: IC → senior IC → staff. Performance is measured on shipped work, not years. A strong first quarter gets you a scope bump.
